/art/a handful of lost love

i would have known you
you who demands to be seen
who i look for before i close my eyes -
even when i know you won’t be there

now you only text for cuddles,
when i am already dreaming -
i feel small next to you,
but i know you don’t mean it

we would rest against each other
if you weren’t so busy being sorry -
i can make you cry so easily;
drowning you in joy until i get bored

i dream that you taste like old books,
the ones i once spread across my summertime bed
every night you have a new face,
but your hands always feel the same

i keep sleeping to pass the time -
it has been weeks,
since you said you love me -
i wish it had been longer
