i bought a drive directly from seagate at the start of the month.
ah.. seagate.. i thought - an extremely well known company; one of the absolute biggest consumer hdd makers.
surely buying directly from seagate would be ideal - to have such a large market-share they can’t be /that/ bad.
nope.
the drive was not delivered because of ups’s ongoing feud with usps and instead was returned to seagate.
that is frustrating, but forgivable.
what is MUCH MORE FRUSTRATING is there is seemingly NO (working) way to contact seagate support to request a refund.
or contact seagate at all, for any reason.
there is no email or phone number listed.
the only given way to contact support (in theory) is this page.
if you go there, i suspect you will find that the links to actually chat with support..
just..
simply..

i have tried the page on every browser on every device i own - waiting +30 min for it to load each time.
i have made sure i have pop-ups enabled, no adblock on, and am not behind a vpn. nothing works.
looking on reddit, it seems to be known that the page just doesn’t work and hasn’t for at least a couple months.
certainly one way to increase profit in the short term..
anyway - if you want to buy drives and aren’t 100% sure nothing will go wrong with either the drives or delivery -
then, probably don’t buy from seagate.
